Applicants should be at least 19 years old; however, the state licensure (POST) exam cannot be taken until the student is 21 years old. It is recommended that students under 21 attend the academy within one year of their 21st birthday.
You will graduate from this academy with 600 hours of law enforcement instruction for a Class A license as required by Missouri POST.
Missouri POST requires 24 hours of yearly continuing education.
Peace officers licensed prior to Jan. 1, 2022 must obtain 24 hours of Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) by Dec. 31, 2022, with at least 8 of the 24 hours coming from an "Approved Provider" of training. Of these 24 hours, officers must obtain a minimum of:
2 hours in Legal Studies;
2 hours in Technical Studies;
2 hours in Interpersonal Perspectives;
2 hours of Skill Development in the area of Firearms;
16 hours of Electives (Any of the above-listed core curricula areas);
1 hour of Racial Profiling training;
1 hour of Implicit Bias training; and
1 hour of De-escalation training.
Racial Profiling, Implicit Bias, and De-escalation training are part of the required 24 hours, not in addition to it.
Please read the eligibility and requirements before applying. Once you're ready to apply, visit our How to Apply page and complete each step.
You must also apply as a student at MAC and complete the FAFSA. All students must fill out the FAFSA, even if they don't plan to use financial aid. We recommend completing these two steps as early as possible to ensure your financial aid is on file and available when your academy classes begin.
Please visit our How to Apply page for a full list of instructions.

We offer two sessions each year:
Spring Academy: January through June
Fall Academy: August through January
Both academies run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some Saturday sessions may be scheduled as needed to make up time due to inclement weather.
